A new public informational program on dementia and caregiving tips is being hosted by the Clermont Public Library at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 7, at the Clermont Opera House.

In addition, area libraries recently received a memory kit to assist caregivers of persons living with Alzheimer’s disease or other dementias. This kit, available for checkout, has activities to do with anyone in any stage of dementia, plus additional resources for caregivers.

The memory kit was provided by the Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias (ADRD) program at the Iowa Department of Health and Human Services. The ADRD Program designed the kit to appeal to multiple senses, including familiar and nostalgic sights and sounds. Inside are items made by Iowans, conversation cards to create discussion, informational books, and more.

The ADRD program has delivered educational presentations to libraries in Clermont, Monona, West Union, Fayette, Maynard, Oelwein, and Strawberry Point over the last three years.

Additional information on Alzheimer’s and related dementias can be found on the ADRD program’s website at .
