The Elgin Sons of the American Legion Squadron #352 on Tuesday, Nov. 26, recognized four Elgin Legion Post #352 members who went on Honor Flights in 2024. Dave Christen, Neal VanHorn, Marvin Van Sickle and Al Bergo had all traveled to Washington D.C. for a one-day visit as part of the national Honor Flight Network.
A slide show program provided highlights of the members’ trip, along with their guardians. In addition, each participant shared personal highlights and mementos from the day spent in the nation’s capital.
The program concluded with a social time of light refreshments and opportunity for those in attendance to visit with Honor Flight participants and talk further about their experiences.
A tenet of the SAL #352 mission is to “honor our forefathers’ service to our country and carry on their patriotic legacy.â€
Transporting approximately 22,500 veterans annually, the Honor Flight Network has flown over 300,000 veterans to Washington, D.C. since its inception 19 years ago.
