CENTER POINT — Tuesday, May 7, 2204: This game between the two best WaMaC teams was for the WaMaC-East title, and two halves weren’t enough, as it would go to overtime.
In the extra frame, the Stormin’ Pointers booted across a goal and won this game by 1-0.
“Sometimes the effort doesn’t equal the outcome,†said Head Coach Shawn Conaway. “I felt like the girls played their hearts out and controlled the game but, in the end, they were able to slip one through our defense. Congratulations to CPU. They are a good team.â€
Junior goalkeeper Lindsay Beyer had 6 saves.
The Mustangs drop to 10-3 on the season and 9-1 in the conference.
It was a heartbreaking loss for the Mustangs, but they had little time to sulk as they traveled to Class 2A, No. 1-ranked Davenport Assumption on Friday. Look for those results in Wednesday’s Bulletin Journal.
