At approximately 12:40 a.m. the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at 200 2nd St. SE in Oelwein. During a search, illegal substances and items were found and seized. Kolten Michael Maakestad, 24, and Caleb Jame Gildard, 32, both of Oelwein, were arrested and each was charged with possession of a controlled substance 2nd offense — marijuana, a serious misdemeanor and possession of drug paraphernalia, a simple misdemeanor. Gildard and Maakestad were taken into custody and transported to Fayette County Jail, where they awaited initial court appearances.
Saturday, Jan. 11
At approximately 9:30 p.m. a deputy initiated a traffic stop in the 100 block of 2nd St. SE in Oelwein. During the investigation one of the passengers, Michael Wiliam Bushaw, 34, of Oelwein, resisted law enforcement and was detained. Bushaw was found to have illegal substances on his person. The deputy also found a valid no-contact order existed between the driver, Chelsea Leann Hersh, 31, of Waterloo, and Bushaw. Bushaw was arrested for possession of a controlled substance 3rd offense — methamphetamine, a Class D felony, possession of a controlled substance 1st offense — cannabidiol, a serious misdemeanor, violation of a no-contact order, interference with official acts, and possession of drug paraphernalia, all simple misdemeanors. Hersh was charged with possession of a controlled substance 1st offense — methamphetamine, a serious misdemeanor, and violation of a no-contact order, a simple misdemeanor. The two were taken into custody, and transported to Fayette County Jail, where they awaited initial court appearances.
At approximately 6:30 p.m. a deputy conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 200 block of Third Avenue NW in Oelwein. Alexandria Cristine Tyrrell, 30, of Oelwein, was charged with driving while license suspended, a simple misdemeanor. Tyrrell was taken into custody and transported to Fayette County Jail to await an initial court appearance.
