Winners will be announced in the Thursday, March 20 Waverly Democrat.

Boys Wrestling

Bas Diaz/Senior/W-SR

Finished the year as the state runner-up in class 3A at 157 pounds, compiling a 46-3 record. Finished his high school career as a two-time state champion and four-time placewinner. Is signed to wrestle at South Dakota State University. Finished the year with 24 falls, six tech falls, and three major decisions.

Gavin Landers/Sophomore/Denver

Finished the year as the state champion in class 1A at 126 pounds, compiling a 46-0 record. Is now a two-time state champion, and holds a career record of 92-0. Finished the year with 27 falls, 17 tech falls, and two major decisions.

Boden White/Junior/Denver

Finished the year as the state champion in class 1A at 157 pounds, compiling a 51-0 record. Is now a one-time state champion, two-time placewinner, and three-time state qualifier. Finished the year with 28 falls, 13 tech falls, and four major decisions.

Jayden Rinken/Senior/Nashua-Plainfield

Finished the year as the state champion in class 1A at 132 pounds, compiling a 58-0 record, a new school record for wins in a season. Finished his high school career as a two-time state champion, three-time placewinner, and four-time state qualifier.

Violet Diaz/Sophomore/Denver

Finished the year as the state champion in class 1A at 105 pounds, compiling a 31-0 record. Is now a one-time state champion and two-time state placewinner. Finished the year with 21 falls, 2 tech falls, and 3 major decisions.

Lilly Stough/Senior/W-SR

Finished the year as the state champion in class 2A at 135 pounds, compiling a 42-3 record. Finished her career as a one-time state champion and three-time state placewinner. Also finished the year with 23 falls and five major decisions.

Amalia Djoumessi/Freshman/W-SR

Finished the year as the state champion in class 2A at 155 pounds, compiling a 46-4 record. Is now a one time state champion and is on pace to become a four time state champion. Finished the year with 33 falls and two tech falls.

Lilli Cooper/Freshman/Denver

Finished the year placing third in class 1A at 120 pounds, compiling a record of 34-2. Finished the year with 17 falls, seven tech falls, and two major decision wins.

Set a new school record for points in a season with 643. Also set a new school record for points in a game with 44 points in two separate games. Joined the 1000 career points club. Averaged 28 points, 7.6 assists, and 1.7 steals per game. Shot 57.1% from the field and 46% from three.

Talan Lafrentz/Senior/Denver

Set a new school record for points in a game with 46 on Jan. 28. Joined the 1000 career points club. Averaged 20.9 points, 6.6 rebounds, 4.5 assists, and 2.7 steals per game. Shot 50.9% from the field and 38.5% from three.

Talan Pletz/Junior/Janesville

Set a new school record for points in a game with 46 on Jan. 14. Averaged 18.1 points, 3.9 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and one steal per game. Shot 51.8% from the field and 28.9% from three.

Sam Hoodjer/Senior/Clarksville

Set a new school record for points in a season with 513. Also set a new school record for points in a game with 48 on Jan. 28. Joined the 100 career points club. Averaged 22.3 points, 8.3 rebounds, 2.6 steals, and 2.5 blocks per game. Shot 41.5% from the field and 30.4% from three.

Girls Basketball

Lizzy Frazell/Sophomore/W-SR

Finished the year with 368 total points, third in school history. Averaged 16.7 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 2.3 steals, and 1.2 blocks per game. Shot 41.3% from the field and 36% from three.

Paige Kampman/Junior/Clarksville

Finished the year with 520 total points, good for 11th in class 1A. Averaged 21.7 points, 4.6 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 3.3 steals per game. Shot 38.5% from the field and 31.9% from three.

Kadence Huck/Senior/Nashua-Plainfield

Finished 383 total points on the season. Averaged 17.4 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 6.7 steals per game. Shot 48.8% from the field and finished with 148 steals, good for fourth in class 1A.

Grace Mullihan/Junior/Denver

Finished the year 275 total points. Averaged 11 points, 7.7 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2.1 steals. Shot 41.3% from the field and 25.4% from three.

Boys Swimming/Bowling

Ryan Law/Senior/Denver Bowling

Qualified for state in class 1A by throwing a 645 at the state qualifying meet. Averaged 179.33 pins per game on the season with a high game of 233 and a high series of 458.

Conner Wurzer/Senior/Denver Bowling

Averaged 209.44 pins per game. Had a high game of 275 and a high series of 487. Last year, as a junior, Wurzer set the two-game series record for the Cyclones, with 500.

Sean Gomez/Senior/Denver Bowling

Set a school high-game record this year with 289. He had high series of 469 and the second-place average with 197.28 pins per game, 12 and change behind teammate Wurzer.

Owen Dietz/Junior/W-SR Bowling

Averaged 182.07 pins per game. Had a high game of 238 and a high series of 425.

Brady Corley/Junior/Cedar Falls Swimming (W-SR student)

Qualified for state in the 100 meter breaststroke by placing fourth at districts with a time of 1:02.4. Placed 24th at the state meet with a time of 1:02.04.

Girls Bowling

Carley Ator/Senior/W-SR Bowling

Qualified for state by bowling a 581 at the state qualifying meet. At state, placed 23rd by bowling a 513. Averaged 156.56 pins per game on the season, with a high game of 200 and a high series of 374.

Jalissa Ator/Freshman/W-SR Bowling

Averaged 155.22 pins per game. Also had a high game of 204 and a high series of 359.

Emma Giesler/Senior/Denver Bowling

Averaged 163.71 pins per game. Also had a high game of 223 and a high series of 372.

Emma Jo Brotherson/Sophomore/Denver Bowling

Averaged 152.78 pins per game. Also had a high game of 242 and a high series of 435.
