The Janesville boys track and field team will be led by their hurdlers once again in 2025. Although the team is low in numbers, they return a large group of seniors to help carry the load this spring.
Last year the Wildcats qualified for two events at the state tournament. Graduate Jack Lindaman placed eighth in the 400-meter hurdles, and was joined by Dawson Graham, Gabe Meaney, and Dane Appleby in the shuttle hurdle.
Meaney, Graham, and Appleby each return this year, and are the standout group for the Wildcats ahead of the season. The team will look to figure out one more member for the relay on their hunt to return to Des Moines.
Despite the low numbers, the one place the Wildcats do have depth is with their throwers. The team had five athletes compete over the course of last season, each of which returns this year. The standouts from that group are Meaney, last year’s shot put leader, Kole Hahn, who posted a best mark just over two feet shorter than Meaney, and Brendan Meaney, who led the team in the discus last year.
Between the hurdle events and throwing events, the Wildcats will have high expectations in some events, and will be searching for athletes to fill other open spots.
