On Tuesday, Dec. 10, the Bremer County Sheriff’s Office arrested and transported a 17-year-old to the Bremer County Jail following an alleged assault involving a knife on Nov. 26, according to a social media post from the Waverly Police Department.

On Nov. 26, at approximately 3 a.m., the Waverly Police Department responded to a residence in northwest Waverly for reports of an ongoing assault. Upon arrival, Waverly officers verified a Waverly man was stabbed after a verbal altercation with a 17-year-old subject. Waverly officers secured the subject and rendered aid to the victim until Waverly Ambulance Service arrived. The victim was transported to the Waverly Health Center for treatment of his injuries.

The subject was transported to UnityPoint Health — Allen Hospital by Waverly officers where he was admitted for further care. UnityPoint was provided the Ed Thomas paperwork in order for law enforcement to be notified of his release and a warrant was issued for his arrest by the Waverly Police Department.

On Dec. 10, the Bremer County Sheriff’s Office served the warrant and transported the subject to the Bremer County Jail. The 17-year-old subject was booked on a charge of suspicion of willful injury, a Class C felony, assault on a peace officer and interference with official acts. The juvenile is currently being held on a $20,000 bond.

An arrest without conviction is not an indication of guilt.
