Central College students in the psychology program attended the annual Midwestern Psychological Association conference in Chicago, Illinois, April 17-20.

Attending from Sumner was Sarah Smith, Class of 2025 Psychology major, who presented research on Black Women’s Ingroup and Outgroup Perceptions: Race and Tattoos.

Leah Gilbertson, Class of 2024 psychology and biology major, from Peoria, Arizona, won a Psi Chi research award at the conference. Only a handful of students are selected for a Psi Chi research award out of hundreds of undergraduate applicants. This was Central’s fourth Psi Chi research award in the past five years.

Randall Renstrom, associate professor of psychology, accompanied the Central group to Chicago.
