INDEPENDENCE – The Second Annual Buchanan County Toy Tractor Show was held Sunday, January 12 at the Heartland Acres Event Center.
All of the profits will go to Buchanan County 4H programs.
There were nine venders offering new and collector toy tractors, tractor and diorama accessories, and homemade jewelry. The Buchanan County Cattleman Association provided beef for members Benji and Brenda Michels to make chili.
The Builders and Collectors Society, a group of farm toy builders and collectors, sponsored a tractor build. The focus this year was on tires, switching them around or adding dualies. About 25-30 youth participated.
The centerpiece of the event were the farm dioramas. This year Tim Reed State Farm supplied trophies for the top five places.
Judges Mike and Angie Thomas interviewed each diorama builder and had a hard time making their final selections. The results:
7th Place: Kaden Emerson
6th Place: Gretchen Aberle
5th Place: Kate Brayton, Cameron Brayton, and Cooper Smith
4th Place: Brantley Sperfslage
3rd Place: Caleb Michaels
2nd Place: Andy Holthaus
1st Place: Cooper Eschen and Hunter Rave
“We had a great turnout,†said organizer Michael ‘JT’ Thomas.
Thomas appreciated all of the attendees, vendors, members of the Builders and Collectors Society, the Cattleman for the chili, and Tim Reed State Farm Insurance for the trophies.
“we look to grow the event next year,†said Thomas.
