A Clermont man is facing serious charges of possesssing child pornography following his arrest on Wednesday, April 23.
Following an investigation that spanned several months, the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at 76 State St. in Clermont on Wednesday, after it was determined Robert William Kurdelmeyer, 63, was in possession of a large amount of child pornography.
According to a criminal complaint filed with the District Clerk of Court’s office, in September of last year, a laptop was found outside of Kurdelmeyer’s home by a neighbor. When it was opened to determine ownership, pornography was viewed. A warrant was issued, and the laptop was turned over to the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, which found approximately 700 videos and 4,000 photos of minors engaged in various sexual situations. Documents found in Kurdelmeyer’s home confirmed that the laptop belonged to him.
During Wednesday’s search, numerous computers were seized from the residence. Kurdelmeyer was arrested and charged with numerous counts of purchase/possession depiction of minor(s) in a sex act – first offense, a Class D felony.
Kurdelmeyer was transported to the Fayette County Jail where he was held on a $20,000 bond.
Sheriff Marty Fisher reported this investigation remains ongoing, and more charges are pending in the case.
