Fairbank Island Days will return June 20-22. The carnival will be back on Main Street from 5 p.m. Thursday and the Queen presentation is at 6:30 p.m. near the Island. Both headlining bands that played last year, Tyler Richton and the High Bank Boys and Not Quite Brothers, are returning Friday and Saturday, along with other Iowa artists, for a weekend packed with jams.
The Triathlon begins at 6 p.m. Thursday with registration from 5-5:45 p.m.
Tyler Richton and the High Bank Boys will begin their country set at 9 p.m. Friday on the Island with Six Pack Jack playing from 5-8:30 p.m.
Then on Saturday, there will be music from noon to midnight, culminating with Not Quite Brothers, known for classic rock covers, playing the last set at 9 p.m. with a break for fireworks after dark. Musician Mitchell Boevers — as seen at Fairbank’s Music in the Park — will precede them, from 4:30-8:30 p.m. and GTP Rock — which played at Oelwein’s 150th — will play from 12-4 p.m., all on the Island.
The parade, themed “Out Of this World,†will begin at 10:30 a.m. Saturday.
The carnival opens at 11 a.m. Saturday.
Cornhole (11-noon registration) and kids’ games will start at noon on the Island, and food vendors will open for lunch. Kids’ games include money in the hay by Northeast Security Bank, a dunk tank and contests.
Car and tractor enthusiasts will have shows to enter or spectate. The car show will be at West Bentley Park and the tractor show is at Immaculate Conception Church, and these will each go from 12-3 p.m. with 9 a.m. to noon registration on-site.
The pedal pull for kids will be 1-2 p.m. at Riverside Park, typically hosted by the µÚÒ»³Ô¹ÏÍø.
A vendor fair will go from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Brainard Hollow next to the library.
