Some Oelwein area residents woke Wednesday morning to storm damage following the overnight rainstorm that caused minor tree damage to this Tree City USA municipality.
Damage appeared to be limited to a few downed trees, large branches and some shingles strewn on lawns.
The Waterloo Airport reported 60 mph winds out of the southwest at 10:15 p.m. Tuesday, which moved through this area before midnight. Some heavy rain was also reported with Oelwein recording approximately .81 inches according to the National Weather Service in LaCrosse, Wis.
Trees were found downed around Oelwein’s neighborhoods, and one was found blocking the entrance of an alley in the 600 block of South Frederick Avenue.
