WATERLOO–The annual Hawkeye Community College Student Art Show will open with a reception and awards presentation on Thursday, April 10, 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. in the Hawkeye Library on Main Campus, 1501 E. Orange Rd, Waterloo, Iowa.
The show includes works by students in Fine Arts, Graphic Design, and Professional Photography.
Juror for the show is retired Hawkeye instructor Kim Behm. Behm received his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Printmaking in 1973, and a Master of Fine Arts in Painting and Art History in 1976 from University of New Mexico–Albuquerque. Behm has more than 40 years of experience as a working artist. His various roles include illustrator, designer, art director, animator, teacher and exhibitor. He holds awards in various fields. Behm retired as Professor Emeritus from Hawkeye Community College in 2023.
The awards portion of the opening reception will begin at 7:00 p.m. with remarks from Behm, followed by the presentation of awards. Light refreshments will be served. This event is free and open to the public.
After the reception, the Hawkeye Student Art Show will be open through May 6, 2025, during regular Library hours: Monday-Thursday, 7:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m., Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Sunday 12:00 – 4:00 p.m., Saturday closed.
