Over the past two years, the city of Plainfield has made notable improvements to the water and sewer infrastructure. Due to the strategic planning of our city clerk, maintenance superintendent and our city council, the city of Plainfield was able to develop a comprehensive plan, secure low-interest funding and execute the project within budget. Approximately 95% of the city’s sanitary sewer lines have been improved and several key improvements to our water distribution system are complete.
We also want to report that the Nashua-Plainfield School District has developed a new baseball/softball complex on the old Plainfield school grounds. This is a fantastic project that will allow our student athletes to have high-quality facilities to partake in the sport they love.
We expect increased traffic to town, as this is the first time the Huskies softball diamond and baseball diamond will be at the same location with brilliant lights for exciting night games. They also created two youth diamonds and a modern concession stand. We are all excited to head to the ball games this spring.
As always, I want to thank our city council, city employees and our community for supporting the ongoing progress in our small Iowa city.
