Drivers on the east side of the Cedar River and in downtown Waverly will need to find a new place to refuel their cars and trucks for the next three to four weeks.

The KwikStar at 400 E. Bremer Ave. is undergoing a total gas pump system renewal project and no fuel will be able to be purchased for at least three weeks, possibly four, said store Manager Alana Berinobis.

“Our pumps are being upgraded,†Berinobis said. “We will not have any fuel sales for three weeks to a month. That is for both diesel and gasoline.â€

Berinobis said the grocery store and food services portion of the KwikStar will remain open throughout the project with normal hours of business and no changes to services other than no fuel.

“For sure, we’re excited,†Berinobis said of the new fuel pumps.

The renovation project includes removal of fuel from tanks, which requires a heavy duty truck to be backed into the station. Drivers are asked to be careful and aware of the large truck stopping and backing into the station from East Bremer Avenue.
