INDEPENDENCE – Independence Police Department official gained a new Patrol Officer on Wednesday.

Mayor Brad Bleichner, front of other officers and family, administered the Oath of Office to Officer Nicole Ball.

Ball is originally from Fredericksburg. She studied Police Science at Hawkeye Community College and worked for City of Fayette Police Department as the K9 Officer, Field Training Officer, Evidence Technician, and Public Relations Officer.

“I did not want a job that I would have to sit behind a desk all day,†said Officer Ball. “A job that every day was different. I wanted a career where I could help others and make a positive impact.â€

Officer Ball hopes to humanize the badge and build relationships with the members of the community in which she serves.

In her free time she enjoys volunteering, spending time with family, hiking, exploring new places, riding horses, hunting, baking, and training dogs.
